Athletes everywhere rely on their bodies to push and pull them through the most competitive tasks. Any handicap can spell the difference between victory and defeat. When it comes down to it, pain is more than a burden, it’s a disadvantage, one that gives opponents an extra step.
It’s no secret that athletes play through pain every single day. But, they shouldn’t have to play that way and at NorthEast Spine & Sports Medicine, we’re doing everything we can to ensure that sports players don’t have to live that reality. Here at NorthEast Spine & Sports Medicine, our focus has always been on providing the greatest levels of care around; it’s lead us to an integrated approach, one that encompasses a number of treatment styles.
As you may have already figured out, it is quite easy to suffer a shoulder injury if you’re an athlete.
Skating toward the boards to track down the puck, you are greeted by an opposing defenseman who promptly slams you into the plexiglass and strips you of the puck, stifling your chance in the offensive zone.
As a quarterback, your job is to take care of the ball and move your team up the field with crisp, responsible passes. The play is set in motion, and you see your receiver break to a soft spot in coverage. You are just about to throw the ball but are instead met with a sudden impact that sends your shoulder into the cold ground and the ball bouncing to the other team.
There are many different scenarios that can cause a shoulder injury. Whether you are playing hockey, football, basketball or lifting weights, you are susceptible to shoulder problems such as:

Formulate A Game Plan
“Through a team approach we can collectively work together to formulate a game plan to help address their ailment.” ~Dr. Faisal Mahmood
It is with a great deal of appreciation that I write this letter concerning your phenomenal team of therapists and chiropractors. Almost one year ago, I stepped into your office for the first time in a great deal of pain, looking for answers and desperate for solutions. I have been to over a half-dozen chiropractors in my life, which have only given me temporary relief and no real solutions to my back pain.
Dr. Lambrou was the first individual to actually look for the root cause of my back pain instead of just treating symptoms. As a health and fitness professional, I have some knowledge and experience when it comes to dealing with the human body. Dr. Lambrou’s evaluation and diagnosis of my back pain was the answer I have been searching for that finally made sense. His team of therapists that I have been working with for the last 9 months have been nothing short of exceptional.
As a personal trainer and powerlifting athlete, I have a passion for staying active and pushing my physical potential. After working with NorthEast Spine and Sports Medicine for several months, my back even felt well enough again to start training for another powerlifting competition. During that course of time, the treatment I received from this team of therapists and chiropractors has helped me get through the aches and pains of training and I would never have been able to reach my goals without it. This weekend, I exceeded my expectations, setting new personal bests in competition and more importantly, living an active life again without pain.
I can only conclude with gratitude that Dr. Lambrou and his staff has made major contributions in my physical well being and has also taught me many valuable lessons concerning my health.

In a previous post, I discussed Jumper’s Knee. In this short video, I will show you first a normal patellar tendon and its appearance on ultrasound. And then I will show you a person with patellar tendinosis.
Dr. Vic Alfieri, DPT discusses two simple strategies to use during your daily activities to prevent you from developing lower back pain the next time you have to lift something from the floor or move something down to the floor.
Vax-D is a spinal decompression table used to effectively treat patients complaining of low back pain. The table stretches the muscles, ligaments, discs, and joints of the low back, which releases negative pressure on these pain generating structures.
Knee pain is a common complaint which can limit many activities of daily living such as standing up from a chair, going up and down stairs, or simply walking. There are multiple different types of knee pain which can be treated by a physical therapist. The one I would like to discuss today is called Patellofemoral Pain Syndrome (PFPS or Runner’s Knee).
